Sequence of Events
The session began with you continuing your hunt for the “great beast.” Along the river, Zogg and Maven heard the sound of an animal. After Gassi‘s incorrect guess of a deer and Zogg‘s theory of a stray dog, you chose to investigate. You found a grieving dog beside a dead woman, pierced by arrows. The scene quickly revealed itself to be an ambush as arrows rained down from a thicket on a rise.
A battle broke out against a group of bandits. While Zogg and Nym moved up the rise to meet the threat, Maven was attacked from behind, and Gassi became the target of arrows and a mage. During the fight, someone shouted from the thicket, and the grieving dog suddenly attacked Gassi. Despite the chaos, Gassi summoned a magic ladder to climb a tree for a better overview and safety. A funny interaction occurred when Nym, affected by a Grasping Grave spell, got an uncontrollable hunger for brains and, fascinated, asked Maven what blood tastes like.
After a while, a new figure revealed herself: the towering barbarian Amiri with her gigantic sword. She had been observing the fight, amused by your “competent” chaos. She was also after a bounty on a beast announced by Oleg at the trading post. Since you had the same goal, you decided to team up. After making camp for the night – where Aurelio traditionally failed at cooking – and fending off a minor goblin attack that Amiri handled on her own, you continued the hunt.
Gassi‘s nose for odors led you to a glade that smelled of manure and decay. He hoped to find rare mushrooms but instead found a pile of half-eaten carcasses under a log – and awakened a gigantic boar, Tusker. A brutal fight followed. The boar proved to be unnaturally resilient; despite Maven and Nym felling it time and again, it rose again thanks to a zombie-like ability. Gassi, who correctly identified its undead nature, resorted to an unconventional tactic: he cast a Heal spell on the boar, hoping the positive energy would damage it.
Great Mysteries & Clues
Amiri: Who is this extremely capable barbarian? Why is she in the Stolen Lands, and what is the story behind her enormous sword?- The Undead Beast: The boar
Tuskershowed a supernatural ability to resurrect. Is this truly the “great beast” you were looking for, and is its undead nature a sign of a greater evil in the area? Nym‘s Hunger: The spell that gaveNyma craving for brains was temporary, but his bizarre conversation withMavenabout the taste of blood was a memorable and unsettling glimpse into dark magic.
Cliffhanger
The battle against the immortal boar reaches its climax. Despite having cut it down several times, it continues to rise. In an ingenious but risky maneuver, Gassi has just channeled healing energy into the undead creature. The boar is now writhing in convulsions on the ground after Nym‘s electrical attack, and it is Amiri‘s turn. Will Gassi‘s gambit grant the beast its final rest, or has he just given it new strength? And how will your new, battle-hungry ally react to this absurd situation?
